Meditation cushions (Zafus), pads (Zabutons)
We offer meditation cushions and pads produced by a small company on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. We have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with this owner-operated company and appreciate the quality of their locally made products. This company uses only environmentally friendly products made in the US.
Fabric for zafus, zabutons, and bolsters is 100% cotton lightweight canvas in non-organic or organic.
Although many people prefer the feel of buckwheat for their zafu (it molds nicely to one’s body shape), kapok is used in all zabutons and often in zafus. Kapok was used in Japan for centuries as a filling for sitting and sleeping mats. Kapok is softer and more resilient than cotton batting; hypoallergenic, will not mold; & is more environmentally friendly (grown without herbicides).

ZafusThe zafu cushion enhances meditation by helping you get in touch with your breath and the wonders of being in the present moment. The zafu, often thought of as only a meditation cushion, is also a perfect bolster for stretching the back and can be used on a chair for ergonomic sitting. |

ZabutonsThe Zabuton is the mat on which the zafu or kneeling bench is placed. These meditation mats provide essential cushioning for the feet, ankles and legs. |
